SRC Awards: Apply Now To Recognize Your Achievement!
Is your school district or local government is committed to saving energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions? Are you taking the ENERGY STAR® Challenge? Have you already reduced your energy consumption by 10% or more? If so, you may be eligible to receive recognition from your State Energy Office through the Southeast Rebuild Collaborative (SRC) Awards program.

SRC is recognizing school districts and local governments for their commitment to superior energy performance. SRC offers three forms of recognition: Quick Start, Met the Challenge, and Kept the Challenge. Award winners will be recognized on the SRC Web site and will receive official award certificates signed by the Energy Officers of their participating state in SRC. To publicize their participation in the program, award winners will also receive a press release template to announce their success.
Applications are currently being accepted on a rolling basis, with a quarterly press release announcing all recent winners. All participants are highly encouraged to use Portfolio Manager, the ENERGY STAR interactive management tool that allows users to track and assess energy and water consumption across a portfolio of buildings. To verify the energy reductions achieved for the Met the Challenge and Kept the Challenge awards, applicants must input their building portfolio data in Portfolio Manager.
Back to TopK-12 Energy-Saving Lesson Plans Now Available from DOE
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has released new lesson plans for teachers, parents, and community leaders to use in educating our nation's youngest energy users about the benefits of saving energy. These curricula can help teach children of any age about energy efficiency, but are especially beneficial to use in districts undergoing energy-saving upgrades. Energy-saving retrofits, LEED certification, and other projects at schools make great learning opportunities for the most important members of the school community—the students.
Visit DOE's EnergySmart Schools Web site to download grade-specific lesson plans and access tools and resources to teach about and help implement energy efficiency in your school.
